This design explores a sleeker interpretation of Studio 54 glamour, using sculptural form of Anthurium to create a seductive, high-impact focal point. The installation cascades over the bar structure like a liquid, glossy pour - evoking movement, decadence, and the unmistakable shine of the disco era.
Key Materials
Anthurium - iconic to Studio 54
After researching the floral history of Studio 54, we discovered that anthuriums were among the flowers frequently seen in the club. Their natural high-shine surface and sensual silhouette made them a perfect fit then - and now. In this design, their glossy texture and deep colour echo the club’s glamour and reputation for excess.
High-gloss waxed apples - indulgence & temptation
Waxed for a mirror-like shine, the apples reference the Adam & Eve story and add a playful sense of decadence fitting for Studio 54.
Red sculptural fabric - inspired by Bianca Pratorius
Flowing, folded forms drawn from Pratorius’s sculptural language add an artistic and textural counterpart to the florals, enhancing the installation’s couture-like quality.
